I was in a similar position not too long ago where I needed a new space for my workshop and office. My spare bedroom and garage were just not cutting it anymore, so to solve my own problem, I started looking around for options I could build in my backyard.

I did some good old-fashioned online searches and checked out a few options in my local area. While they were nice, they seemed overpriced, and the quality left a lot to be desired. The communication with the builders was also never straightforward.

So, I talked to my brother (we both have a DIY mindset) about building something. We found some great plans online, connected with an expert builder for advice, made a few modifications, and built our first detached structure. It turned out fantastic!

In fact, it was so good that when people visited, it became a talking point. They’d ask where I got it or mention wanting one just like it. That’s when the idea of building for others was born.

I brought the idea to my brother, and we decided to give it a shot.

We started Detached Space with the goal of building high-quality detached offices and other structures—spaces that are more affordable yet superior to the ones on the market. We wanted to create something people would love to see in their backyard every day and that would stand the test of time.

And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
